The Missoula Art Museum is a contemporary art museum with a core value of supporting working artists of our region and of the greater Western United States, and holds committed focus on contemporary Indigenous artists.

MAM accepts proposals and reviews them on a regular basis. To submit a proposal, please include a cover letter, artist statement, curricula vita or resume, and 15-20 images. 

In the cover letter, please emphasize the project’s connection to MAM’s programming mission, propose a specific exhibition and tell us about it— What do you want it to do? What will it look like? What is it about? Describe possible ancillary programs that you may be able to provide, similar past experiences, and offer references. Finally describe any special circumstances or provisions. 

Please limit artist statements to a single paragraph that describes an overview to your general approach, process, concept, and how process supports concept.

Eligibility: Open to all artists. 

Terms: All submissions will be considered for inclusion in the Silent Auction. The donation amount you choose (100%, 75%, or 50%) is calculated from the final sale price. 

You are responsible for any equipment necessary for the display of your work including hanging system and framing if necessary. All works on paper must be framed.  

Each artist may submit two artworks for the jury to consider. For each artwork, you may submit one image plus a detail image. All images must be suitable for publication i.e., 300dpi JPEG file. 

Only finished works will be considered by the jury; please, no proposals or substitutions.

• Submission Deadline: September 27, 2026 (11:59pm Mountain Time) 
• Notification of jury results: November 2, 2026
• Last Day to deliver artwork: December 5, 2026
• Exhibition dates: December 17, 2026 - February 3, 2027
• Artist Reception, Thursday Dec. 17, 2026 5-7pm
• The MAM Gala and Benefit Art Auction: February 6, 2027

Artists who choose to donate 100% of their sale to MAM will receive:

• One-year MAM Partner Circle Membership giving you and your partner all the Family Circle benefits listed above plus Modern and Contemporary (Mod/Co) reciprocal membership to more than 40 contemporary museums nationwide, $600 value.
